Advanced Techniques
Advanced Techniques is all about layering strategic thinking on top of the tactical elements that were emphasized throughout the Intermediate program. Here, children will learn to create and execute long-term plans, while developing their own unique styles of play allowing for their creativity to shine!
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Combinatorial Thinking or by invitation upon assessment
Key Concepts
Build broader opening knowledge emphasizing improvement of memory
Develop a more thorough understanding of how to evaluate a position
Create a strategic plan to exploit opponent’s weaknesses
Begin playing with a chess clock to learn to perform under pressure
