The Checkmate
This course is all about learning to deliver the final blow of a chess game. Children will learn the fundamental checkmating strategies that are essential to master before progressing to more complex concepts covered in the Intermediate Program.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of First Steps or by invitation upon assessment

Key Concepts
Understand the difference between a check, a checkmate, and a stalemate
Learning to checkmate against a lone king
Finding simple checkmating combinations
Effectively start using chess notation in game play
